I have $7 on my Paypal account...and next payment is due 4 of november.
I need $38 to pay for the server next month.
Anyone interested in helping out ?
My own bank account is pretty trim (broke) or I would pay myself.
If not someone steps up I'm afraid OB stops next month.
Of course, it will re-open at one time again when I get the dough. But when ?

"John represents the renaissance of OB. John stepped up and filled the vacuum Fatny left behind. Not only his skills are amazing, also his dedication to keep this game interesting and alive. I was there when he first won the title, I was watching over his shoulder when he bullied all competition, I was there when he became a HOF´er. I may not be a great fighter myself, but I do have eye for talent. John is something special, I told him right after he won his first title. John is the spark that became a flame that turned into a devastating fire. Apart from being a great guy he never stepped down from a challenge and always looked to square off against OB´s best to further improve his skills. Many HOF´ers made short comebacks during the year John reigned OB, only to be knocked out by Big Bad John." - Dick E. Boon
"The thing with John is that he's just so extremely accurate, both in offense and in defense. There's some punches I consider myself a master of, like the small hook and the long upper. Well they're useless against John no matter how well you throw them, he just keeps blocking 90% of them and hurting you in the process. Speaking of which...if he hurts you (and he will), you better move your head a lot because he also happens to be one of the best finishers i've ever seen. Basically if you're not extremely good AND creative, you'll end up on the floor. A fine addition to the hall of fame indeed." - Fatny |

I've always thought you should make the server a dedicated one so anyone can start it from thier own server/home connection. This would take away all costs from your side and people could find servers by the owners listing them in a thread on the forum or you could have the server somehow broadcast it's address to the forum (seen this somewhere) and it could have the address, name and a little bar for online/offline status (like a gif that turns red or green).

drinkABeer();
postAtForum();
}
if(sleepy) {
gotoBed();
}else {
playOb();
}
}
[/code]

Yes but where should the forum be then, if you broadcast to the forum ?
where would you download it from ?
where would records be saved it ? on each server ?

There are plenty of free forums which are actually pretty good (SMF for one).
Mikkel wrote:

You could upload entire packages and not just the basic client which updates from your server, ok this would require you to upload a new version and name it each time you updated something but again a free host would be fine for this as the files won't be over say 100mb at the most (or will they?).
Mikkel wrote:

On the clients computer (Documents etc), have it create and save an ecrypted file like most games do (save games). You could also use the clients computer to save thier individual fights on which they could watch in thier browser, this way they are in control of keeping old fights stored and you could even go as far as creating an option in thier client to toggle this on and off (checkbox in options or somet).
The only drawbacks I see here would be the encryption method would have to be strong as you know some idiots will try thier best to crack that so they can blag thier record and the downloading of the client as people may whine about small updates but it's a small task so they shouldn't.
This is ofcourse apart from the work you would have to put into doing this but that goes without saying doesn't it bro.

It could probably be done using some of the ways that you describe. Problem is right now I would have to implement all that, and in the meantime OB would be down. But interesting suggestions.
Btw, I dont think most online games save all data on the users harddrive !?

Boon what is your currency for Bolivia? You can do a currency convertion and see how much it would be in U.S currency($)
Just keep everything the same. No need in changing unless Mikkel wants to change.
