MMA is not more dangerous than boxing. The amount of direct and hard blows landed to the head is very limited compared to that of a boxing match. Most MMA fights spend a lot of time in wrestling which is not dangerous to the body (as long as you tap out). They don't have a count, if ur in trouble they stop the fight. In boxing you go down for the count, then come up to face further punishment.
I've seen boxers get badly outclassed over 12 rounds taking tremendous punishment. Even they didnt get koed you think that is healthy ? never seen anything like that in MMA, if one is superior the fight is usually quickly over as well. Also they train differently in MMA, more relaxed in training. In boxing you have the famous "gym wars".

I wouldn't say it's not dangerous like but I'd say the risk of danger is alot less, I've seen a few people have bones snapped in MMA, one I can remember from a while back one guy wanted to wrestle, the other guy pulled away and his forearm snapped right in the middle. Gonna try and find a clip of it.

I agree though, top level Boxers have to endure a lot more in my opinion, I've barely ever seen a MMA guy proper completely mangled after a fight, when you look at fights such as Gatti V Mayweather I think it's conclusive proof.

When I'm talking about permanent damage..broken bones are bad but rarely permanent. Brain damage is permanent.

You must be going about it wrong or your club has no experience as getting a medical is piss easy, if I remember right I got mine within a week of getting asked whether or not I wanted to go for my first fight. However good luck with getting into the army.

goldenboy88 wrote:who cares whats more dangerous? danger has nothing to do with toughness. show me a boxer who can take a fucking hard kick to the ribs. and the reason theres no counts in mma..... people would die. you rarely see people get koed like that in boxing. boxing is worse on your brain because you get hit hundreds of times in the fight. it still doesnt make boxing a more badass sport.
Wrong, what do you call K1? They use counts. People dont die. kthxbai
And yeah, a boxer could KO someone like that it's just people have a tendency to defend themselves in boxing. " LOOK AT ME! I KNOW JUJITSU! IM GONNA TAKE HIM TO THE GR- POW! "ouchies" MMA fighters suck at stand-up most of these guys the Chris Leben type are just boxing failures who find it easier to KO untrained boxers in a cage where you can hit people while they are down. kthxno

Dont get it wrong alot of pro fighters starting out for boxing only get 1k a fight to start.
Unless you have some kind of huge fan base following you from the AM'S. But lets say you only had 15 AM fights then you decide to turn pro your probably only getting 800-1000 your first fight.
Where I live thats what it is. In a place like vegas maybe more.
