I was thinking..right now I'm making this 3d physics based game. I understand that it's quite different from OB and that's why people here don't want to play it. I understand and respect that now.
But since I'm already creating new graphics and have learned to use a new game engine (Unity3d, which is much much better than Java) I thought I could recycle that in a new 2d version.
That version would be a side scrolling game like OB with the exact same controls and moves. But with 3d characters like for example Tekken. Tekken has 3d graphics but the gameplay is 2d.
The database and userbase would be the same, records the same, gameplay the same, but with different graphics. You would be able to login with your current username and play.
I think that is something I actually COULD manage to do since I would be able to use much of the same code and graphics I'm already using for 3d.
For me it would be much more motivating to work with modern tools and I probably wouldn't experience burnout like I did with the current Java version.
When I make updates to 3d some of them could be used in 2d as well and vice versa. It would be much easier for me to manage these two versions concurrently.
What do you think ?

It's a chore..if I had Vaders powers I would remote strangle them all.

Hey I came up with this idea. When there's no one online, we could just post a "I'm online who wants to fight" message in this list, then members of the list will
get notified by mail instantly.

I just don't have the time. Making a game is a huge job and I'm already busy with the 3d one.
Would like to take out 6 months to give this game a complete overhaul but atm it's just not possible. Unless someone comes up with some kind of paid plan I don't see it happen. Or perhaps if I win the lottery..
Right now I'm also completely rewriting the 3d version (there will be "real" graphics this time).
Here's a picture of an early version of it.

EDIT: Check new post.

I dont know what to do. I simply don't have time right now..I'm working on a new version of 3d also. Remember this is not a job for me, it's something I do in my spare time, which I don't have much of.

It's an engine called "Slick"..it's more like an opengl rendering library. To get away from the whole Java interface thing, which sucks. At the same time I can clean everything up so the code is easier to extend.

I have decided to go on with it. I had a fight with Captain America and realized how good the gameplay is. Well anyway I've started cleaning everything up and porting it to a new engine. Here is a screenshot of what I've got so far (you can view old fights).
It will be ready in 3-4 months. And yes there will be singleplayer.

I know. I'm trying to cook something up now (with singleplayer and more) but would rather not say too much yet.
